Kazakhstan’s president affirms continual collaboration with Russia amid global sanctions and Ukraine crisis

In an interview with Euronews, President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s dedication to sustaining a robust partnership with Russia despite ongoing international sanctions and the isolation of Russia amidst the conflict in Ukraine, as reported by TASS.ru.

President Tokayev highlighted the enduring significance of the strategic partnership between Astana and Moscow. Despite the challenging landscape of international relations, Tokayev stressed the importance of preserving the historical ties and the substantial shared border between Kazakhstan and Russia.

“We have traditions of good cooperation that should be preserved or at least should not be rejected,” Tokayev emphasized, underscoring the value of maintaining stability in bilateral relations.

His comments come at a time when Russia faces significant international isolation and sanctions over its involvement in the conflict in Ukraine. President Tokayev’s affirmation of continuous collaboration with Russia despite these challenges signals Kazakhstan’s commitment to fostering diplomatic ties and stability in the region.
