15 farmers in the Pljevlja region of Montenegro received greenhouse tents from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TKA), whose installation was finished as part of the Improving Greenhouse Farming Project, a press release reads.
Since 2015, TKA has supported greenhouse farming, which plays a significant role in Montenegro’s agricultural output. A theoretical and practical training with the theme Improving Greenhouse Farming, The Fight Against Diseases and Pests was held in Pljevlja earlier this year. 15 participants in the training received gardening tools and greenhouse tents from TKA.
The ceremony was conducted in Pljevlja, and attendees included the region’s greenhouse owners as well as Ferid Osmanagic, the president of the Islamic Union of Pljevlja, and Abdurrahman S. Toprak, the TKA’s coordinator in Montenegro.
Speaking at the event, Osmanagic, the president of the Islamic Union of Pljevlja, noted that TKA has been working on significant projects in Montenegro, particularly in the areas of health and education. On behalf of the Islamic Union of Montenegro, he thanked TKA for their assistance to the underprivileged families in the agricultural sector.
Toprak, the TKA coordinator in Montenegro, said in their address that TKA is concerned with programs in Montenegro that encourage agricultural employment and curb emigration.
Since 2015, more than 200 greenhouses have been put up as part of the Improving Greenhouse Farming Project, which was launched in Montenegro’s Northern area. Over the past two years, almost 100 farmers took part in the training sessions designed to boost output in the greenhouses, where drip irrigation is employed for production.
