NATO launches professional development program in Moldova

A professional development initiative for government employees and organizations in the security and defense industry was formally launched last week on Tuesday by NATO and the Republic of Moldova, the organization said in a press release.

For this occasion, officials from Moldova, the NATO Liaison Office team based in Chisinau, representatives from allies and partners, and members of civic society all gathered to discuss the details of the initiative.

“This program will make a real difference for the Republic of Moldova . It was created at the request of the country’s authorities and designed to meet their needs. The Liaison Office will continue to work for the NATO-Republic of Moldova partnership, including through capacity building activities,” said the new head of NATO’s Liaison Office, Michaela Šimáková.

“In the current context and taking into account the lessons learned from recent crises, it is necessary to consider security from a comprehensive perspective. This program will help the Republic of Moldova to strengthen its means and better coordinate the action of its institutions in the field of security,” State Secretary Adrian Băluţel said.

The professional development program seeks to improve the capabilities of public organizations and civilian workers in the defense and security fields.

It was established at the Republic of Moldova’s request and includes a wide variety of activities (training, apprenticeship programs, internships, and study visits) that will allow beneficiaries to develop their skills and acquire experience.

The NATO Liaison Office plans these events in close cooperation with the organizations in Moldova.

This NATO program is funded through the Defense Capability Building Trust Fund, which is matched by Allies and partner countries, including Germany, Luxembourg, Poland, the United Kingdom, Slovakia, Czechia, Finland, Sweden, and Switzerland.
