For the earthquake response, AMDA’s humanitarian personnel from Japan landed in Istanbul, Türkiye (Turkey), on the afternoon of February 12. One doctor, one nurse, and one coordinator make up the team (of Turkish origin), a press release states.
The crew visited the Turkish Medical Association the day after arriving in the nation’s capital, Ankara (TTB). The Japan Medical Association (JMA), which provided aid at the beginning of this mission, introduced AMDA to the organization.
In order to deliver a letter and a donation from JMA for relief efforts, the crew met with TTB president Dr. ebnem Korur Fincanc there. They also received information on the current state of the crisis.
The delegation went to Adana in the south in the afternoon of February 14 in order to visit the local doctors’ group, which has been working on relief efforts. For this humanitarian project, the organization and AMDA both pledged to support one another to the best of their abilities.
The AMDA crew traveled to Kahramanmaraş, a disaster-stricken region located three hours away, at the request of the aforementioned Adana organization, to offer aid. Goods like bedding, tents, and electric heaters will be handed to nearby inhabitants who have been made to endure trying conditions by the two doctors working at the site.
Although it was said that day’s high reached 15 degrees Celsius, the team claimed that nighttime lows fell below zero.
