Around 12,000 people will be benefited once UNICEF, in collaboration with the Kherson Oblast authorities, delivers 29 power generators to medical facilities, water utilities, and heating systems in newly accessible parts of the Kherson region, UNICEF reports in a press release.
Yaroslav Yanushevych, the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, stated that they were working to restore the occupied areas and that it was not possible to repair all of the water and power transmission lines before the winter season began.
He said that electricity generators will significantly help the local populace by supplying the urgent demands before winter.
In order to meet the needs of the newly accessible areas of the Novovorontsovska, Velykooleksandrivska, and Vysokopilska villages, UNICEF provided 15 generators. These generators will enable the continuous operation of primary healthcare and other medical facilities.
In order to support the operation of the Kherson Region Emergency Service and water utilities in these areas, an additional 14 generators were also given to local authorities. This will ensure that roughly 12,000 people have access to water.
Children’s access to essential services should be restored as quickly as possible, according to UNICEF Ukraine Representative Murat Sahin, who noted that access to water and healthcare was a basic human right.
He said that they were dedicated to providing the materials and assistance required to make this happen.
The Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance of USAID is acknowledged by UNICEF for their generous donation and ongoing assistance of the Ukrainian people.
