According to a senior official from Iran’s industries ministry (MIMT), an Iranian automaker and a private Armenian investor would collaborate to establish a car manufacturing facility in the Caucasian nation, Public Radio of Armenia reports, citing PressTV.
The initiative to produce an Iranian car model in Armenia has been pursued by the MIMT and Armenia’s ministry of economy, according to Alireza Peymanpak, president of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization, who revealed this on Saturday.
According to Peymanpak, who was quoted in a MIMT report, an initial agreement has been reached for the establishment of a production line for an Iranian-made car in Armenia, and a feasibility study is now being conducted on the basis of this agreement.
He said that because of a trade agreement between Iran and the EAEU bloc of neighboring nations, which includes Armenia, Armenia will not impose import charges on an Iranian automobile model intended for domestic production in the nation.
He expressed the hope that they could make the most of the chance and develop Armenia into a center for the production and export of Iranian goods and products.
The name of the Iranian car type being considered for joint manufacturing in Armenia was not made explicit by the deputy Iranian industries minister.
This occurs at a time when Armenia has already begun receiving finished automobile exports from Iran’s largest automaker, IKCO, with a pilot shipment of 200 sedans delivered to the nation last month.
In September, the IKCO announced that it would offer its Tara and Dena models to Armenian clients. The business claimed that in order to promote additional items and boost exports, it had opened a dealership and other facilities in Yerevan.
